Mel Brooks
Melvin Brooks (né Kaminsky, født 28. juni 1926) er en amerikansk filmskaber, komiker, skuespiller og komponist. Han er kendt som skaberen af brede filmfarcer og komiske parodier. Brooks begyndte sin karriere som tegneserie og forfatter til det tidlige tv-varieteshow Your Show of Shows. Han blev kendt som en del af komedieduoen med Carl Reiner i komediefilmen The 2000 Year Old Man. Han skabte også sammen med Buck Henry den populære tv-komedieserie Get Smart, som kørte fra 1965 til 1970. I middelalderen blev Brooks en af de mest succesrige filminstruktører i 1970'erne, hvor mange af hans film var blandt de 10 bedste pengeskabere i det år, de blev udgivet. Hans mest kendte film inkluderer The Producers, The Twelve Chairs, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, High Anxiety, History of the World, Part I, Spaceballs og Robin Hood: Men in Tights. En musikalsk tilpasning af hans første film, The Producers, kørte på Broadway fra 2001 til 2007. I 2001, efter tidligere at have vundet en Emmy, en Grammy og en Oscar, sluttede han sig til en lille liste af EGOT-vindere med sin Tony-pris for The Producers. Han modtog en Kennedy Center Honor i 2009, Hollywood Walk of Fame i 2010, den 41. AFI Life Achievement Award i juni 2013, et British Film Institute Fellowship i marts 2015, en National Medal of Arts i september 2016 og et BAFTA Fellowship i februar 2017. Tre af hans film er placeret på American Film Institutes liste over de 100 bedste komediefilm gennem de seneste 100 år (1900–2000), som alle er placeret i top 15 på listen: Blazing Saddles på nummer 6, The Producere på nummer 11, og Young Frankenstein på nummer 13.
